FAQ

Everything you need to know about Backstage Raid Trains.

What is a raid train?

A raid train is a group of Whatnot sellers who take turns going live and raiding the next person in line. Instead of ending your show, you send your audience directly to the next seller — keeping the energy going and helping everyone grow together.

How do I create a train?

Sign in, tap New Train, set your date, time, and slot length, then invite sellers by handle or share your invite code. When your lineup is ready, publish it and everyone on the train gets notified.

How do I join a train?

Two ways:

  • If someone shared an invite link or code with you, use that to jump straight to their train and claim your spot.
  • Browse public trains at backstagelive.app/trains/browse and request a slot.
What's an invite code?

Every train has a unique code (like SUNDAY-4X2K). The host shares it with sellers they want in their lineup — paste it at Browse trains to jump straight to that train and claim a slot.

What are the join policies?
  • Open — anyone can claim an open slot
  • Invite — invite code required to join
  • Approval — the host approves each request
  • Password — the host sets a password sellers must enter
Do I need a Whatnot account?

Sellers need a Whatnot account to go live. Buyers browsing the public train page can shop every seller's lineup without any account — it's designed to make it easy to share with your audience.

Is it free?

Yes — free during beta. We'll let you know well in advance before anything changes.

What timezone does it use?

You set your train time in your local timezone. Every rider automatically sees their own local go-time — no timezone math, no confusion. The builder even flags slots that land at rough hours (before 7am or after 11pm) for any rider.

What happens on the day of the train?

Open the Live view on your train. It shows a live countdown to each seller's slot, the full running order, and the raid message ready to copy when it's time to send your audience to the next seller.

Can I be on multiple trains?

Yes — you can host your own trains and be a rider on others at the same time. Your profile tracks everything in one place.
